Introduction
It is springtime 2025 and a small botanical miracle is happening at the campus. Many locations are beautified by flowering orchids of a variety of species.
Favorable conditions have led to the creation of many pockets at the full extent of the campus.
With my colleague at the NTUA Technical Agencies, engineer Ph.D. Athanasios Ziros we surveyed parts of the campus, clearings and at the limits of the shade of trees. The plants blend with moss or pine needles or other herbaceous flowers.
Athanasios Ziros, an enthusiast of native flora and fungi, located many pockets. Our collaboration aims to detailed mapping of the various species.
At the same time, planning suitable measures for their protection is imperative. Particularly for the period until seed is dispersed.
Purpose
For the management of the green spaces, this phenomenon is something to enjoy and promote. At the same time it is a challenge and an obligation to safeguard and preserve. In this context, this website may prove useful.
